Javascript error in TS60 & IE55
RonaldV
Hi,
when opening teamsite in IE55 I keep getting these javascript errors (a.o.. on window resize):
A runtime error has occured.
Do you wish to Debug?
Line: 32
Error: Object required
Anybody have the same experience?
Thanks, Ronald

I experienced the same problem with IE5.5 with TS6.5. I updated IE6 and it worked well.
For TS60 with IE55, you may try updating the IE6, may be helpful
Thanks Nicholas

Thanks, good hint.
However, IE55 should be supported under TS6?
BTW, we are NOT using TS60 but TS65 (my mistake)

The product compatibility page on the support site details the compatible browsers:
https://support.interwoven.com/resources/products/compatibility/teamsite.asp
On TS 6.5:
- If your client is W2K then IE 5.5 SP2 and SP3 are supported.
- If your client is XP then IE 5.5 is not supported.
What exactly is your client/browser?
Cheers

It's IE55 sp2 on Win2k Sp4

hmmm it should work then, how odd that it doesn't
.
I would suggest either
- raising a support case and seeing if they can resolve the issue (perhaps it could be something to do the with the exact security configuration of your browser? this is just a wild stab in the dark though)
- upgrade your browser to ie6
Best of luck
Cheers

I'm wondering if you're able to trace it down to the exact offending function call. From the error, it sounds as though a variable is not set or a function is referenced somewhere the browser cannot "see" it.
Current Environment(s):
(1) TS 6.5 on W2K3
(2) TS 6.1 SP1 on W2K3
By the way, I miss Unix terribly.

Does the command work ?
I turn off Java Debugging in the browser and ignore those errors. Happens too often
and many are no problem.
RonaldV
Don't know. I got my script-debugging turned OFF but they still appear.
Anyway, I think that a tool like teamsite should come without this errors. :-)

It typically does come without this error, which is why I think we're baffled.

Do you have Display Notification About Every Script Error set ?
BTW, I agree errors should not happen. However hiding worthless ones is
a good idea.

I'm having the same problem, with TS 6.5 SP1, running on W2K server with IE 5, with clients running IE6. Interwoven has accepted this as a bug, and assigned it Bug# 61053.

Thanks, hope they'll fix it soon.

If it's important for your company to have a fix for this problem you should be sure to log a case with technical support. That will associate your company's name with the bug, and will increase the probability that it will be resolved.

Lissa,
Thanks for your remark.
I will contact support for this, however I completely disagree with you. I think that Iwov should fix these obvious bugs (that are noticed by many others before) as a priority without everybody having to log cases for this.
This is called "pro-active" in management theory and is something I'm missing at Iwov(-support).
Thanks, Ronald

Ronald, Interwoven does fix bugs proactively, and many bugs are fixed because they impair normal usage. That said, if a specific customer really needs a fix, that information should be passed along to the engineering team. There are always more bugs to fix than there are people and time to fix them. That has been my experience in many years in the software industry.
The more data the engineering team has, the better prioritization they can do.
