Generate a primary key as a unique for DataDeploy

We need to deploy DCR’s to the SQL server table that has the primary key as a unique value.
There is a way it can be accomplished by generating the unique value using a perl script, but it looks a kind of complicated especially because we need to generate this unique key for every selected value in a multi-select box.
Is there any simpler way to do it? For instance, we can set the primary key as an autonumber in the table so we don’t need to supply it the DCR?
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
