Visual Annotate Emails
cemman01
We have a Visual Annotate test workflow setup which sends outs emails.
The emails go out fine to the reviewers but have broken images. The only person for whom the images appear in the email correctly is the developer of the workflows. However, he is using the same mail system as us and he has no idea why the images appear as broken links for others.
Has anyone faced this issue before? We are using Lotus Notes as our mail system.
Thank You.

Look at the source behind the email and verify that the image path is correct. Maybe it points to a path that only the developer can access. If you are still having problems post the email source here.

The image path looks right. The path is written to a log file, tmp\iw_solutions_debug.log. The path is common:
<img src="
http://servername/iw-cc/vannotate/images/icn_alert_info.gif
" alt="Notification" border="0" align="left"></a>
The icn_alert_info.gif image is in a common location, httpd\webapps\vannotate\images.
Thanks.

I just tried one of these and it appeared fine for me (using Exchange Server), but I wonder if it might be the security settings on the users' Notes configuration? Perhaps it's not displaying the image because they have inadvertently blocked it or have sensitive security settings? Also, what happens if a user from that group pasted that URL into a browser?

(1) TS 6.5 on W2K3
(2) TS 6.1 SP1 on W2K3
By the way, I miss Unix terribly.

Hi Dave,
How are you doing? In a browser, the image appears fine. I'm still figuring out what settings are different between mine and his and that could prevent the image from being shown.

Sorry, so I understand clearly -- you're saying that the image appears just fine but is that in a user's browser who has trouble seeing this in an email?
Can these users see other email images okay, even from external sources? Have you looked at iw-webd/logs/access.log and is there a 400 or 500-class error that might be restricting the display?

Its fine in the browser. It doesn't work in the email. So I am not sure looking at TS logs would help. Like you had mentioned before, it must be some security setting.
As far as I am aware, images from external sources come okay in our email system. I will probably try sending a gif from a different mail system to my address later and see how it it appears.
Thanks.
