iwattrib of STAGING rteurs null in preview

Hi,
I am trying to get the revision number of a DCR in staging using iwattrib in my presentation template. But its not returning anything.But the same command works fine from the command line.
The other thing what i noticed is,If i execute the same command with the workarea path in my presentation template, then i am getting the revision number. I am using backtick to execute the command. if any one faced the issue, please advice?

If you are not explicitly stating where to find the iwattrib binary and not passing it an actual vpath (not a file system path, a vpath) then it probably won't work within the PT.
If that doesn't solve your problem, please show the full, complete, actual code you are using to try and make this work in your PT.
