Using STA for WorkSite in ASP.NET

Hi all,
I am new to WorkSite .NET Integration. I have read the documentation with code examples of Intergrtaing IManage with .NET (Console, WIndows Apps)
Since we cannot use STA in ASP.NET Web Pages, I tried to use ASPCOMPAT in the page directive but I keep getting the error that TrustedLogin was not able to obtain a Thread.
"Exception of type System.Web.HttpUnhandledException was thrown.. [NRTSession ][TrustedLogin ]Trusted Login cannot get thread or process token"

Basically I am trying to create a new workspace in WorkSite from within my .NET Web page.
Any ideas or solutions greatly appreciated.

Which version of the WorkSite SDK are you using? In 8.x, all distributed imanage.dll's are 'both' threaded. Only the pre8 is STA.

That's Correct. I'm now logging in by supplying the credentials.

On a different note: I have been able to display ONLY the contents under the "My Matters" from within my web application. Is there a way to just highligt or automatically point the WorkSite to a workspace?? without showing any other workspaces?

I am using the worksite WebControl and tried to change the MonikerType. If this is not the right way Can I use the JavaScript function: openWorkspace() to dynamically pass the parameters for "page"?

First, I just want to clarify: the openWorkspace() function to which you are referring is in the ASP.Net control demo that shipped with WorkSite for SharePoint, correct? If that's the case, then you really don't need to use that. If you have one web control that needs to always display a specific workspace, then I have an easier way for you to do this.

All you need to do is change the MonikerType property and add in a Moniker property for your existing web control. [NOTE: The code below was pulled from the ASP.Net control demo page, so make sure that you have set up your ASPX page according to the documentation before using this.]

By changing the MonikerType to "Moniker", you are telling the web control that you have a specific moniker for which you would like the control to be rendered. You then need to add in the second property, Moniker, to give the control the specific moniker value.

Great! this is what I am looking for,
I would be interested in trying to set this Moniker value dynamically from my C# code.
I have access to the NRTID of a WorkSpace, from this can I change the Moniker value or should I be using javascript to do this.

Dynamic setting can be handled both in C# server-side code and client-side JavaScript code. At this point it's a matter of preference for you. On the server-side, you'd do something like this:

If you choose to set these properties on the server-side, you should also remove the MonikerType and Moniker properties on your web control that I suggested adding in my last post. Or, you can copy the openWorkspace() function to your code and pass the nrtid like so:

thanks a lot, I am now doing it on the server side. That puts to rest all the questions I had on how to correctly display Workspaces.

I have added some custom properties to the Workspace profile (from the worksite). I basically want to do this:
1. When I create a Workspace in WorkSite (from .NET), I also want to insert some values in to custom profile atrributes. example: "claim number"
2. While doing a search on these matters in worksite I want to retrieve them by using the "claim number"

How can I add values to the Custom Properties? [ I have seen some examples using IManCustomAttributes but I am confused looking at this code "Workspace.AdditionalProperties.Add" ]

any ideas or help will be really helpful.

When you refer to "profile custom attributes", I suspect that you are talking about the Workspace Profile that you set up in WorkSite through the web interface, because we don't allow you to configure values for the Custom Properties in the web interface. Is this correct? My explanation assumes that you want to set profile values, not custom properties.

In this example, I'm using Custom 13, which is a string field, to hold your unique claim numbers. To set this value on a workspace profile, use the following code:

IManWorkspace workspace = 'get or create your workspace;
workspace.SetAttributeByID(imProfileAttributeID.imProfileCustom13, "my claim number");
workspace.Update(); 'save the changes that you just set

Now, for searching, you just need to create profile search parameters and add Custom 13 with the specified claim number:
