templatedata - dcr editing problem

Dear forum,

I have users that are editing the dcr files under templatedata/data from their text editors and not via the TeamSite interface. By doing this they are breaking the relationship between the dcr and output file, thus causing problems.

Is there a way to make them only editable in the TeamSite interface?

How are they opening the DCRs directly in the text editor? Is it via "Edit With..." functionality?

No, we have a samba share to our TeamSite server so that the web developers can modify the tpl files.

I would hack with the permissions on the Samba share, so that they cannot be edited
by via the share but still can by TST.

Maybe make a new group what does not get translated across Samba & have
that group own the DCRs. To edit a DCR you would need to be a member of this new group.

You could probably do the same with generated content, but it could be harder to
manage ownership via submit.cfg
