DBI not being installed.

Hi,

If I try to install the DBI version DBI-1.48 in SOLARIS for perl it works fantastically. However need to do the same for iwperl and it has errors........

make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `blib/arch/auto/DBI/DBI.so'

Does any one really knows what might be the issues.

when the ld command is executed from make command the fatal error occurs.

collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `blib/arch/auto/DBI/DBI.so'

Same thing works fine when I try this with perl.
Perl version = This is perl, v5.8.3 built for sun4-solaris
iwperl version = This is perl, v5.8.2 built for sun4-solaris-multi

Do I need any other thing apart from GCC.....

steps followed are :

iwperl or perl Makefile.PL
make
make test
make install

I am really stucked and any help will be well.... you know......

Run: perl Makefile.PL - which generates a makefile - save a copy of it as "makefile_perl"
Run: iwperl Makefile.PL - which generates a makefile - save a copy of it as "makefile_iwperl"

Compare the two generated makefiles - they are probably using different definitions for LD or LDFLAGS or perhaps even different definitions for CC

Also check which ld command you are using, usually /usr/ccs/bin/ld

The error means that Unix cannot build the loadable library. Most likely,
as Adam stated, the library path is different.
