pdf rendition

I am getting error eventhough after i have installed indexer pdf server as per the installation guide.

error is:- "A pdf rendition for this document is not available at this time. If this persist, please contact your support staff".

That is a generic error, but sometimes it occurs because not enough time has elapsed to render the pdf (it's not instantaneous); btw same with html versions.

That said look at the logs on your PDF server and the Webapp server to see if there is a more detailed error message because other issues can also cause this error message (i.e. the PDF server not communicating properly with the Cluster/webapp).

Hi jainnitin,

Yes i have resolved that problem .

Make sure u did the following :

Note:Create a folder called pdf_renditions and give a full share and map this folder to the network drive(right click my computer -->map networkDrive-->choose the shared pdf_renditions folder.

1)go to C:\worksitemp4\mpserver\config\programs---open the index.properties file

2)In that file ,line will start like this:

# -------------------------------------------------------------------
# Start/Config Pdf Rendition Server
# -------------------------------------------------------------------
#com.imanage.indexer.pdfrendition.startserver=false
#com.imanage.indexer.pdfrendition.adobe.ipaddress=10.5.0.88

In above u need to specify ur ip address of where u have installed the pdf server and make the startserver=true.

3)Now u restart the both cms and indexer server

4)enable the worksiteMP PDf server in lib manager system config

Thanks a lot for your reply. But still I am facing the same problem. Can you tell me more about some of the following settings:

1. What should be the value of "Local Temp Directory" while setting up indexer for pdf rendition?
2. Did you modify anything in AAES.xml file which is available in pdf server/cfg directory?

Hi,

Its not required to change any values in aaes.xml.

Whether u have followed the above steps which i have mentioned earlier??

I think if u follow those it will work.

You can also see the more information in WSMPadminRef.pdf files,page no:100 which its help you.

Let me know the status and what was the error its thrown again??

Thank again for your reply.

I followed the way you asked me to do. Actually the worksiteMP is installed on solaris server and the pdf server is on another windows 2003 server. In the indexer for pdf rendition properties the local temp directory path is not /pdf_renditions its something like /usr/local/pdf_renditions. Is it mandatory to have the directory in root like /pdf_renditions ?

Hi,

Its not mandatory that u need to create the folder like pdf_renditions But only thing is that u need to give full share and map that folder to the network drive.

*Below i am giving the example like how the settings in configuration manager for the indexer service:
-in pdf rendition tab: Local Temp Directory: c:\pdf_renditions
pdf Share Location: p:\
where p:\ is the network drive where u mapped ur local folder pdf_rendition.
