Start a workflow from within a CGI

Hi,

I have a requirement to launch the workflow menu interface when the user hits "Start Input Task" button within a CGI task.
I am using the following URL:

openWindow("/iw-cc/submit?" + vpaths, 500, 450, "submitEvent");

where the variable vpaths contains the fully qualified path of the files.

I have also tried to use

openWindow("http://168.73.88.32/iw-cc/submit?" + vpaths, 500, 450, "submitEvent");

but both of the above URLs do not seem to work.

I then tried

openWindow("/iw-cc/submit?" + vpaths + "&iw_source_area=$basearea", 500, 450, "submitEvent");

but this also does not work.

Please help me find out the URL to launch the workflow menu interface (where the user can chose one of the 3 configured workflows) from within the CGI form.

Can you be more descriptive of what the problem is? What, if anything, is displayed by using any of the 3 URL's you mentioned. At what point does it bug out?

Hi,

A new window pops up with the URl and then the error window comes with a javascript alert that says, "You must select atleast one file".
In effect, the workflow menu interface does not come.
What might have I done wrong in the URLs?

Do you mean you want to be able to see the menu - New Job - page?
I did this recently and got it working.
http://$host/iw-cc/command/iw.ccpro.new_job?vpath=$urlPath

with $host being the hostname of your server and $urlPath being the full vpath to your current location.

Is that what you're after?

I want to see the workflow menu that comes on hitting the "submit" button.

Should you not be using iw_file as the file variable instead of vpath?
vpath should still be there to indicate what area you are in, but iw_file should indicate the file attached, with numerous iw_file variables for numerous files attached?
Make sense?

To add to what Jeremy has said, I have two things...

1. Why are you using the IP address in the URL? There might be some security implecations that your browser does not like if the calling window's hostname is different from that of the popup.

2. Where did you get that code? Specifically, your last line:

newWin.creator = self;

"creator" is not a property of the window object. Perhaps you mean "opener"?

I did some playing around - I can kickoff the submit button by using the following URL - but I can't seem to get files attached just yet, even though I was using the iw_file variable.

http://$host/iw-cc/command/iw.ccpro.submit?vpath=$vpath&iw_file=$file

Note the command is different to the one you've been using.

Hi,

I went through the user interface customization guide's chapter 9 - using URL commands.
It stated that vpath is to be used while specifying the files.
Also, I noticed that my vpaths variable just had the file path and not the "vpath" key.
That is, currently vpaths variable is
var vpaths = "/default/main/sprint_com/es/WORKAREA/Development/templatedata/promotions/customPromotionHub/data/nascar.dcr";
It should ideally be
var vpaths = "vapth=/default/main/sprint_com/es/WORKAREA/Development/templatedata/promotions/customPromotionHub/data/nascar.dcr";

I did this change but still the same problem persists.

Also, the code to open a window is working fine since I am using the same code in other CGIs and there is no problem.
Also, within another CGI, I am using a command to initiate a workflow which works fine. The URL is
openWindow("/iw-cc/newjob?" + vpaths + "&iw_source_area=$basearea", 500, 450, "newESJob");

However, on replacing newjob with submit, then this does not work.

I got it now..I had done everything right except for the spelling of the keyword,"vpath".
It was misspelled as "vapth".
