deploy images used in jsp
jkm
In my page if we link few images then I want on the deployment of page those images should be deployed with the page. As the workflow has information only about page and DCR and doesnt have images linked to it so I can think the only way to get those images is to parse the DCR and get all the images and then attach to the workflow. Is this the right solution of this kinda problem or any one has done this in more refined way ?

Parsing the DCR to find the references to associated assets (images, whatever) and then attaching those assets (if also relative to the same workarea, and not already attached) to the job is the basic way to do it.

I think DCR parsing is not the correct solution still .. becasue if some image is tagged in VF then we wont be able to locate this and another thing I thought to do HTML parsing with <img> tag. or keep all the images in one folder and then attach/deploy complete folder. Any suggestion on this would be appreciated and I believe most of teamsite implementations require this.

Hi,
the question is:
How gets a workflow any information about additional files, which should be deployed?
Well, this question could only be answered from an customer specific view.
Some customers want to deploy every image linked in a jsp page,
other customers want to deploy only one image,
some others want to deploy only the jsp page without any added images.
Every customer has to find his own mechanism for his specific problem.
I think, that its hardly possible to find a global mechanism, which is ok for all customer requirements.
Parsing the DCR is one solution which should (easily) be implemented.
You have to analyse all DCR fields which can contain links to images,
whereby you have to parse text fields separatly.
Some months ago we implemented a linkchecker with a DCR-parsing mechanism, thereby we have to solve an similar problem.

Thanks Stefan for your response but I think you read my question wrong ;-)
Question is to deploy all the images/pdf/ppt associated with the page and this is our customer specific requirement. With DCR parsing it can be implemented by two ways
1. You know the pdf ppt fields and then get the values out .. very simple ;-)
problem : for 10 templates 10 ipl files weird solution .. shud be some common ground
2. Parse the DCR and search for .gif .ppt .jpg etc .. (xml parsing .. simple )
problem : VF format if someone put image in that then you wont be able to extract that image and image wont be deployed or you need to really smart parsing solution to go inside the VF and look for image tags
3. Fix the location of image folder in every branch and deploy the complete folder ( area comparision deployment)
problem: doesnt sounds good to fix the folder location becasue users are always stupid ;-)
4. Parse the html/jsp and look for image tags and deploy those images .. this sounds quite reasonable to me at the moment.
I want to know if anyone faced problem with html parsing for deploying images or if you have some other solution better than this ;-
cheers
