Web CMS (TeamSite)
Teamsite's ability to translate content to RSS
ruler
Hello Folks,
I am interested in setting up RSS feeds of Teamsite content to handsets.
Does Teamsite have any kind of simple utility that allows me to easily capture an RSS compatible version of the content .xml files for News and Events??
Thanks,
Sridhar

Teamsite does not have a "Utility" to capture anything, easily or otherwise.
- If you are the news source you'd have to set up datacapture / presentation templates to
generate whatever RSS incarnation you use.
- If you have a news feed and are looking for some target filtering into TS you'd have to provide more
details...

OK..
Do you know what an RSS engine is?
I got this from an other developer and could not figure how that works?
"The RSS files are simply deployed to the RSS engine/WAP server via OpenDeploy".
Thanks for your help!

Depends on what RSS you use. Netscape or UserLand perhaps ?
Somebody in your Company should know, not me.

That implies that
a) Files in RSS Format already exist somewhere and
b) WAP Site structure (with RSS capability) is set somewhere else and you have to deploy Files there

We generate RSS feeds from lots of our content; it's just another presentation template except that instead of wrapping everything with , it uses XML.
We use workflow to generate all of the pages on our site, and our workflow was built to support generating multiple outputs from a DCR, so when we deploy a page that has a related RSS feed, it automatically regenerates and deploys a file from rss.tpl.
For some content, we want to put all of the content in a section in the RSS feed, so the TPL uses some PERL that queries the directory where all the DCR's are stored, then loads each DCR to get the title, date, and summary to place in the RSS feed.
