FileSite/iManage MailSite Office 2003 error msg

Hi Everybody,

I would like to know if someone has ever experienced the same error message as I have with Filesite/iManage Mailsite 8 sp1 and Office 2003.
Every time I open Outlook 2003 (sp1) I am prompted the message below. I have to say "No" every time to open Filesite/iManage Mailsite correctly.

"Outlook did not start correctly the last time. Starting Outlook in error safe mode would help to fix or isolate the issue to start the program correctly. Some functionalities can be partially disabled in that mode.

i'm in no way offering this as a solution, however I had a spate of these warnings recently, along with frequent Outlook GPFs particularly when trying to shut it down.

I rolled back to a clean install of FileSite 8.0, and then directly applied SP1a. Previously i'd applied seemingly every hotfix under the sun

There's not a day that doesn't go by where one of our users don't see this message!;-) Unfortunately, there are cases when a full uninstall/reinstall of the MailSite product happens to be the only answer--as the access to the WorkSite folders never comes back. Exiting out of MailSite from windows by clicking on the "x" seems to hasten the trouble. Best to go to the "FIle" menu option, then click on "Exit".

If any of you have any advice out there for a better solution rather than a full uninstall/reinstall of the product when several reboots don't bring back the WorkSite folders through MailSite, let me know.

I don't know why this happens -- there seem to be numerous and various scenarios causing this behavior.

I have found shortcut to clearing the problem which works when I encounter it. It may not work in all instances, but you may want to give it a try.

The following is a snippet from a Windows Registry file (.REG) which causes Outlook to Refresh its list of Exchange extensions (of which, FileSite is one.) When this is run, Outlook simply looks through the list of known extensions, registers those it finds, and unregisters any which had been installed, but which are no longer present. This reg key is commonly applied by application installation programs, after changing or updating the Exchange extension colleciton. (Note: this will only refresh Exchange Extensions. There are other, different keys which have a similar effect for other Outlook addins.)

The method I use (as a single user) is simply to close Outlook and then run the reg file. For an enterprise, you would want a different approach.
