Query in CSDir.getFiles

I'm looking at the JavaDocs for the Interwoven ContentServices SDK Release 2.5, in particular
interface com.interwoven.cssdk.filesys.CSDir
method getFiles(String, int, int)
The description is:
"Gets an iterator over all the files in this directory satisfying the constraints in the given query. The query string includes the full set of attributes, predicates, and sort keys."

My question: what's the format for the query string? Can someone point me to where that's documented?

You need to createa a CSQuery object and us the toString() method to get the query.
