CSSDK Client and Server
pranav
Hi,
I am new to CSSDK. My doubts :
>> If i am integrating the portal with Teamsite (I my case i am integrating Plumtree portal with Teamsite 6.1). Then do i need to install
CSSDK Server as well As CSSDK client on teamsite ?
>>DO i need to install anything on portal side also ?
>>Is there any JAVA API which provides the access to various teamsite features from java program ?
>> Do i need to have CSSDK lisence(s) for server as well as CSSDK Client ?
i hope you guys can understand my doubts.

I believe the answer to most of your questions is (and I hate this) "It depends"
We have / are integrating "TeamSite" with our Portal (BroadVision, but that's not important). I have built a servlet that utilizes CSSDK (Running on the same box as TeamSite). Therefore in our environment we installed nothing on any machine except the host TeamSite server. The only licensing issue is the number of users.
CSSDK is very Java friendly out of the box.
I'm not sure where you're located, but on Thursday 6/16 (tomorrow) the Chicago User Group meeting will be discussing this very topic.

The CS SDK has everything you need to connect the two. However, before going into more detail, what exactly are you trying to integrate? do you just want content from TeamSite to appear in portlets, or do you want to access TeamSite from the portal (i.e. submit/revert files, set metadata, etc.)?

Hi,
In my case i am creating one Env which is like this.
To integrate Plumtree Portal with teamsite .
All the Gadgets(Portlets) are deployed on a Tomcat server which is on different box(Windows machine). So, each of these are on separate windows boxes Plumtree server, Gadget Server(All the gadgets) and teamsite .
Now i am creating one gadget which will manipulate all the activities of Teamsite. Lets take a small example.
USER(logged in into plumtree portal) ------------>Clicks on one gadget(which submits one newspaper article (as an attachemnt) with various approvers)--> same gadget has one task tab which gets all the tasks(assigned to the specific user) from teamsite .---> User clicks on the task link and approves it(without logging in into the teamsite GUI) ---> Once task gets approved the file gets deployed onto specific location.
All the gadgets are based on J2EE architecture.
Now where in this scenario i need to use CSSDK server and the CSSDK client.
I hope that i am able to put a clear picture of my situation.

Depends -
You can do it two ways -
You can use SOAP and put all the CSSDK stuff on either your PT server or your Gadget server. If you do that you will need the username AND password of the user in order to gain access to CSSDK functionality. The SOAP server doesn't allow for "gettrustedclient" since that would be a huge security hole. In this case you would need the CSSDK client jar files on either the PT or Gadget server.
-or-
On the TeamSite server, run a separate Tomcat server, put the client CSSDK jars on the TS server, build servlets that run on the Tomcat server (on the TS box) to process your requests. This solution can use the GetTrustedCLient option so no Password is required, HOWEVER, be very careful that the code validates against some authority to verify username since no password is required.
Option #2 is EXACTLY was we implemented here.
