DataDeploy Filters -- Some Questions

I'm trying to get filters working with DD, and have a few questions for you DD sages out there. I'm using OD 6.0.2 on Windows.

For data (tuple) filters:

Ex: <field name="path" match="*\attachments\*" />

(1) What kind of pattern matching can be used in the match attribute? Can I use a regex, or is this limited to straight text plus the wildcard (*)?

(2) Can data filters be used with DAS, or is DAS limited to event filtering?

(3)Do backslashes (\) need to be escaped in the match attribute? e.g. match="*\attachments\*" or match="*\\attachments\\*"?

For DAS event filtering:

EX: <pre><field name="area" match="%default%"/>

(1)Can/should matches against the "area" be used to filter paths that are deeper than the workarea level? i.e. to filter out subdirectories.

You should be able to use perl 5 Regular expressions for pattern-matching.

Filters can be used with DAS.

I'm not sure about the backslashes...

Usually area goes up to the workarea ... you'd use 'path' to match subdirs.

Thanks, Mariam! I think I have our filters working correctly now.

IMHO, filters are under-documented in the manuals, so I'd suggest working the answers to my questions into the docs somewhere. Knowing the spec for the match attribute is pretty basic information.

Also, the ddadmin guide gives an example using area to filter by template type, so this would be something good to clarify in the docs as well.

Thanks Marc...You read my mind.. I actually already filed a bug last week against the docs based on your comments. The service pack release notes also have some updates. But certainly, the feature can be documented better.
