Redistribution of DFS Java productivity layer libraries

Hello,

I believe this question has already been asked several times but I could not find any answer. So I'll try again: Is it possible to redistribute the DFS productivity layer Java libraries with our product?

I've seen at least one non-EMC product that includes the .NET DFS libraries but I was wondering if this is possible with the Java libraries. If not, we'll have to rewrite our code to use the web services directly but reinventing the wheel is against our company policy...

I guess that would be more a question for your account manager in EMC.

However, I expect that should be ok since your customers would own Documentum and therefore the DFS too.

If it's not allowed, instead of rewriting your product, you could, in the installation/deployment process/documentation, specify which files have to be copied form the content server to the client

I agree with Francosis that it's better you get DFS library from your customer's installation of Content Server. Though DFS is shipped with Content Server and free of charge, but it has copyright. You should get permission from DFS to re-pack its library. For more details, you can contact EMC support team.
