Problem extracting the xCP Developer Edition

Hi,

I downloaded the xCP developer edition from Powerlink. When I try to extract the files in the archive, extraction of most of the files fail with the message "file has been corrupted (CRC Error)".

Did anyone face this problem or do i have to download the package again? I tried with the tools like WinZIP, ALZIP; same problem occurs.

Hi KC,

I've come accross this as well and not only with the xCP Dev.Ed. download.

Every now and then it happens with huge downloads like this.

Solution with EMC downloads is to download again.

Aside for the download itself, it could also be the storage device that is causing the CRC error.

So also check your storage device on errors. Maybe there is bad sector that will keep giving the CRC error no matter how many times you try to download the file.

@EMC: maybe these huge download can be split in smaller chunks like has been done recently for Centerstage? If not, could you make parity files available together with these huge downloads so we can repair the file after download?

I have tried to extract in multiple PC's and never worked. I will downlad it again.

BTW, where did you download Centerstage from?

There was an early adopter community within the labs and via that download I was able to pick up the latest version.

I assume you are downloading Documentum_xCP_6.5_SP2_windows.zip.

With me, that file is 2.381.779.304 bytes in size and it extracts just fine.

If were talking about the same file you can use the attached sfv or par2 files to verify the downloaded file.

If it passes this check, the download as such is ok and the CRC is most likely caused from reading the file from disk.

I got it installed finally. I tried to download the multiple image files. But even then it was corrupted. I had to merge the working files from both the downloads to get it working.
