Custom attribute cache
carlosK
It would appear that the worksite server caches custom attributes (well at least cusom1 & 2).
We have a process that ‘moves’ a matter from one client to another (when they’re created in error for the wrong client). This process updates the worksite custom attribute tables database directly. However, subsequent calls to either:
IManDocument.GetAttributeValueByID()
IManDocument.CustomAttributes.ItemByName()
return the previous values until the worksite server process is restarted.
Interestingly, the worksite properties dialog within Microsoft Word shows the correct updated value without requiring a server restart.
So my question is; how can I bypass the custom properties cache and obtain the updated custom1 and custom2 attributes for a document?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Have you tried refreshing the document object first before querying for its metadata? The IManDocument.Refresh method gets the latest data from the server.

Thanks for the reply jny,
Yes, I've tried the refresh method, it makes no difference. Even after a reboot of the client PC, the old data is returned. This leads me to believe that the server process is performing some sort of caching on the custom attributes.
