Customized Menu Item in TeamSite-File option

Hi All,

We want to make a customized Menu Item to be invoked from File column of Interwoven TeamSite.For that we we have devaloped an IPL file and made necessary changes in iw.cfg. e.g.
custom_menu_item_myitemname1="File","Code Drop1","code_drop_with_new_path.ipl","all","toolbar=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=600,height=700"

But when we invike the Menu Item it is giving
"Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request."
We have tested the IPL file separately,it is running fine.Could you please tell me if we need to make any other configuration changes or any changes to be done to any CGI script.

1.I am using TeamSite 5.5.2.
2.IPL is a CGI script.
3.I can't post you the exact code for company policy.I can assure you that the same code is running fine on another server.In the IPL we have invoked a CGI script

Okay - 5.5.2 explains why your setting this up in iw.cfg - you do realize that 5.5.2 is no longer a supported product - right?

Since it is a CGI script and you cannot post it (I had a feeling that would be the case) - the only thing I can suggest is to add a bunch of debugging - perhaps adding:

use CGI::Carp qw(fataltsToBrowser);

might help to track down the problem ...

Have you checked the error log for the iw-webd apache instance? It may give more information as to what is happening when you try to run the menu item.

Could you please tell me the exact error log file name? I have searched in <IW-HOME>/iw-webd/logs/ ,but I didn't find any error log files there. Please mention the error log file path.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

But there is no error_log in the directory "/usr/iw-home/iw-webd/logs". Please let me know what could be the possible reason.

this is caused by CGI error, most likely some misconfiguration.. maybe even a wrong shebang line.. or the includes are not getting there....

I have added the following in IPL.

I am not sure.. try this. Add a cgi wrapper to the ipl file u r calling from the menu.

eg:

custom_menu_item_myitemname1="File","Code Drop1","/iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi/code_drop_with_new_path.ipl","all","toolbar=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=600,height=700"

I find the error_log in different directory.

Log file states that :

sh: /usr/iw-home/httpd/iw-bin/code_drop_with_new_path.ipl: cannot execute
[Tue Oct 4 05:01:15 2005] [error] [client IP..] Premature end of script headers: /usr/iw-home/httpd/iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi

I have tested with simple IPL,I find that problem with iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi.But I can't edit the CGI.Should I make any other configuration changes for that?

I got a script from Interwoven documentation.I try to run that from Menu Item.I have attached the script.But this is also giving the same error.

But this script is povided by Experts tested already.So I think problem with some configuration change with wrapper cgi. Should I reinstall iwwebd to populate iw-webd/conf/*.conf files with info from iw.cfg.

The script you posted is syntactically broken.

You need a blank line after the =head1 and before the =cut lines.

Beyond that, the script produces non-XHTML-compliant output which, while it shouldn't cause the problems you are seeing, should be fixed (there's very little excuse for generating crappy HTML anymore).

If adding the blank lines before and after the POD directives in the script doesn't fix the problem with *this* script - post again.

Not sure if you've resolved this yet, but this line from your error log may be helpful:

sh: /usr/iw-home/httpd/iw-bin/menu_item.ipl: cannot execute

This usually indicates that the execute bit is not set or that there is a problem with your #! line. From your script, you #! line:

#!/usr/iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl

looks fine (assuming that the /usr/iw-home is your TeamSite installation directory). So, I would guess that you don't have the script set with execute permissions. Try:

ls -l /usr/iw-home/httpd/iw-bin/menu_item.ipl

Since u are using solaris , so the cgi and perl error are logged in /var/adm/iwui/error.log
