Web CMS (TeamSite)
Moving from one branch to another
kvd000
Hello,
I have a little question here, we developed a website for our client using Teamsite in a TEST branch. Now we have to go live with it. As we don't have access to the server, we need to call somebody from IT over there to do this for us, but what should we ask him to do (don't think they have teamsite experts)...?
We developed in a TEST branch, the website should come in the INTERNET branch, on the same server. Yesterday, they copied everything, but permissions are gone and files, dcr's and templates are not linked anymore...
Where are the links between dcr's, files and templates kept, and how can they copy data without losing all permissions (think its a Unix system)?
We only have browser access to their Teamsite server. (through VPN)

well, you have to create the branch and the workeareas with the same premissions that you have in the original branch.
if you are on the same server, you can copy the files directly using CopyTo command
if you are not, then you have to
1. tar and zip the content using cvpf parameters (if you are on unix)
2. capture extended attributes into a file
3. copy the files to the target server
4. untar the tar file
5 re-apply the EAs
you might need to massage the attributes file, or launch the script from the right location
the scripts are located on the support site (RecreateBranch):

Yes, it's the same server, so it would be enough to use the copyTo command?
can you post an example how to execute that command?
Thanks!

Well, if you are simply creating a new branch called INTERNET to be used in place of TEST, why don't you just rename TEST to INTERNET? If that isn't an option, you can use Copy To (as Greg pointed out), which is under the Edit menu drop down within the professional view. You could also do this programmatically using iwupdate.

Create a workarea on the appropriate target branch (create the target branch if not already present).
Using the CCPro UI - navigate to the source branch's staging area (or workarea, or desired edition); Without selecting any files or directories, while looking at the root of the area you navigated into, Use Edit > Copy To and follow the instructions provided in the UI.
