Pre operation to a document

Hi, All.

I want to add some process for the folowing require:

1, When a document is checked out from the repository add my data to the document;

2, When the document is checked in the data I added also to be deleted;

3, When the document is for editing do the process as 1 and 2;

4, When the document and its redition is exported some data will be add to it;

Now my question come how can I do this on the CS?

If you have idea please do me a favor.

If you want to do this when a document is "checked out" only, then you will have to do this on the client machine. You can change normal.dot and add your watermark there. If you to do this as post processing, then you can definitely do this if you convert the word document to PDF and use DTS or ADTS. If lieu of buying these products, there are pdf manipulation libraries on that support pdf manipulation. Some are free, some are not.

The file download to the client has water mark.

But the file on the CS server's file system (The file real path on the machine) has no water mark in it.

I just want to know if this is feasible. If so, how to do this?

Please clarify the situation:

How does the watermark get applied to the document? Does the user apply this on the local computer? Or is this done by the system? Do you have DTS/ADTS already installed in your system?

Maybe you could use a TBO for this? You could call the external library upon checkout.

So whats your problem again? In your original post you ask how to add data to the document when checking it out. Now, you say that you have a 3rd party library that adds watermark to the file when it is checked out.

I am sorry, so late. The fact is that to make our idea come true, we need to do something on the CS.

(Ex. Write our logic in some Classes, and change the configuration of the CS server.) But I didn't know how to do this that time.

Now I do this by TBO. But it seems some time it's dosen't work like I want it to.

By the way, I override the getFileEx2(), setFileEx() and doLink() method.

Now when I try to view the file, sometimes my logic had bean used. But sometimes it seems the logic didn't work.

And the file's type is which I created when the DocApp(DAR) is installed.

What version of DFC are you using? If 6.x, then you should be extending doSetFile(), not setFileEx(). I do remember an issue with new BOF, that there isnt a corresponding doGetFile(), like there was getFileEx in the old DFC. Not sure if they have resolved this in newer versions.

getFile..()/setFile..() functions will never called, if content transfered by UCF client from ACS/BOCS.

You need to disable UCF transfer and implement your custom operation in TBO, or modify content on client machine, as Johnny said.

Catch 22

If you disable UCF then the Application Connectors for MS-Office won;t work anymore as UCF is one of the requirements for DAC

If you are not using any other clients (eg Desktop Client or custom app), then customizing WDK/Webtop should give you more control then using TBO.
