Updates to Visual Template Builder?

System

I've read some threads about Visual Template builder...

Has this Dreamweaver plug-in been updated to work with TS 6.2?

Sure wish there was a wysiwyg template builder to help us make create our dcts and tpls faster. Having to work entirely in the code view seems a step backwards in the development world.

I have not seen an update. But you *should* be able to build a DCT with DW anyway. The DCT XML is the easy part, so you can create it once and then never use DW again. For TPLs I take a code frag and insert the appropriate tags into it with a WYSIWYG editor called vi. :-)

Why is that the DW plug in only works once - it should or something else should allow for continuous use - it would help speed up development time and reduce errors in coding.

Is anyone aware if IWOV has plans to provide a dct/tpl front end creator for developers?

Secondly, is there a recommended link for the "vi" editor you mentioned?
By the way, is there a Windows version or some other tool we can use?

Thanks

I highly doubt it. Most DCT and TPL development is custom development and very difficult to wysiwig. Most experienced developers write their TPLS entirely in perl, using none of the iw_ tags. You could wysiwig the DCT xml, but that only takes a few minutes to throw together anyway. The majority of the work for DCTs since 5.5.2 and up is with FormAPI, which would also be difficult to wysiwig.

Andy was having fun with you here. VI is the best editor of all time, but it's not for developers who are looking for wysiwig editors, it's for developers who know what they are doing. If you want to find it, try google.

Jeff, I think it should be forbidden to answer questions like 'what is vi' Smiley Happy
