Using transaction client side and includes a dm_method call

Hi,

I would like to have a DFC client (excel workbook) to update an object and call a dm_method that will change the object's folder location.

This should be done as a transaction, since if the dm_method call fails I would like to rollback the transaction.

Is this possible using a dm_method ?

If yes, how would I get the session in the dm_method code ?

Any better solution ?

Instead of calling the method within a transaction, can you put the transaction in the method itself? As for how session is passed to method, look at some of the sample methods that are provided out of the box.

You need to manually make sessionmanager.

Override execute(Map params, PrintWriter report) method from class IDfMethod

take login parameters from params Map, and make session manager.

Thanks Johnny, but part of the job is done in the client and other in the JMS.

When I said "how would I get the session in the dm_method code", I meant the session where I began the transaction and not a new Session.

Thanks Rudolf, but, what you propose is to get a new session, which is not exactly what I need.

I searched a bit further, would the solution be something like passing the session id to the dm_method and then use a adoptDMCLSession() or create a shared session on the client and get it back in the dm_method. Has somebody tried this ?

I assume that you use dm_method for change location because you want to override security and use dm_method with superuser privileges?

I think that it is bad idea, to split transaction in two environments. Maybe you should change your security model.
