Workspace class is being set to Rubbish

Hi,
I've been creating workspaces in code without any problems and verifying the properties are set correctly in the database after I have created the workspace. Initially (in the DocMaster table) the workspace class is set to WebDoc and the subclass is set to Matter. I can search for the workspace and then add it to the My Matters node no problem.

However, after a day or two if I re-run the search I cannot find the workspace. If I look at the properties of the workspace in the database the class is set to RUBBISH and the subclass is set to NULL.

I've also noticed that when I create workspaces (on any environment) via the api the DocSize is set to 0 so I don't know if this is where the problem lies.

I've tried running my code on two different environments, the above issue happens on only one of them so I don't think it's my code (but could be wrong!). Has anyone experienced this problem before - if so could you please let me know how you dealt with the issue?
