TS unable to contact the Search server

Is there a config file on TS that will point TS to the Search Server installed on a separate machine?
I'm setting up TS Search and indexing and so far all the config files mentioned in the documentation are on the Search/Indexing server. I can't seem to find anything in the documentation that mentions where to configure the TeamSite server so it makes calls to the correct Search Server. Right now I'm running into an error when trying to search from TS:

com.interwoven.cssdk.common.CSRemoteException: (Unable to contact the Search Server)

Has someone configured Search and TS with this type of Architecture?

Not sure if this helps, its from the documentation.

If the index manager and search manager are running on different hosts, they may not be able to access the other’s resources. To work around this:

1. Always run search manager and index manager under the same account.
2. If the search manager is on a different host than Teamsite, the account must belong to the Teamsite domain group and must also be a privileged user on the search host.
3. Change the iw.search.agent.idxdir parameter in the search.properties file to use the UNC path (for example, \\newlywed\Search\Index).
4. The index directory must be shared with full permissions given to the same account.

Looks quite straight forward.
