Configuring Webtop on Documentum Composer

Hi All,

I have read the Documentum Composer Manual and WDK docs since those are the documents essential for me to achieve my final goal - Customizing the Documentum Webtop i.e. adding links on the page creating backing beans , utilizing webservices etc.But prior to that i am still unable to ascertain, how to go about this using Documentum Composer.The "HelloComposer" example from (Composer welcome tutorial) gave me the first glimpse of customization where i was able to see my created custom 'Type' in the dropdown for 'Type' of document.

The 'Install Project' option loaded the custom created type on to the dropdown; but for a link to be shown on a particluar JSP on Webtop and Java code to be written and like wise, should not the 'source code' be available inside the Composer ?..

I do see class files and JSP's under "C:\Documentum\jboss4.2.0\server\DctmServer_MethodServer\deploy\webtop.war". Is there a step to configure this folder inside of Documentum Composer.

It would be really helpful if anyone guides me wrt to my understanding.

You best bet to get started with customizing webtop is to read the Web Development Kit Tutorial available on the Download Site (PowerLink) under Documentum Web Development Kit.

To use Composer to customize Webtop, you'll need to create a dynamic web project, and follows the tutorial guide to customize or configure specific component. This project will not be part of the DAR, so you do not need to install it to the repository.

Some existing component and controls in Webtop are designed to automatically pick up and process objects installed as part of the DAR, like object types.

Composer is packged with a stripped down version of Eclipse.... You can download a more fully featured Eclipse (i.e. with dynamic web projects) and upgrade it with Composer features by following these instructions

Thanks a ton for your inputs i will try out the leads and keep u posted on that. Till now i was working on the information from the following link https://community.emc.com/thread/3851?start=0&tstart=0 . I hope i am following the right path. Would like to have your confirmation.
