Customizing error messages

Hi all,
Here is a specific need that all the error messages coming out of the invalid DCT entries are to be displayed in the DCT form itself and not in the form of alerts [ Eg: The kind of error message we see on a DCT form when a required field is left empty and save button is hit]. Can anyone let me know how do i go about it?

I haven't tried this, but you should be able to stop the alert trigger before it happens and supercede it with other JS events, like displaying a message in a specific area and turning that field's background color to pale red, for instance.

Current Environment(s):
(1) TS 6.5 on W2K3
(2) TS 6.1 SP1 on W2K3

You could use IWDatacapture.displayMessage() to display your error message as you see on a DCT form when a required field is left empty and save button is hit.

To make the corresponding field red, you can do a setValid(false) on it and do a IWDatacapture.setHighlightMode(true). But make sure to turn the vailidity of the item ON again when the user enters valid input, otherwise the DCT won't let you save.
