Composer missing Documentum project

I am new to Documentum Composer. I donwloaded and unzipped the files on my machine and followed the instructions in the quick start quide. When I start Composer and create new project I do not see the option for Documentum Project. What am I missing? There are no spaces in Composer folder path.

I am using Composer 6.5 SP2.

What did you download:

Documentum Headless Eclipse Composer, Version 6.5 SP2 (zip)
Documentum Full Eclipse Composer , Version 6.5 SP2 (zip)

Difference:

Headless Composer is most useful when you do not want to make any changes to a project but want to

automate compiling an existing project and installing the DAR into a repository.

Note: Headless Composer cannot be used to create new projects or new artifacts.

Thanks for the respose.

I downloaded Full Eclipse Composer, v6.5 SP2. I also downloaded the patch this morning just in case SP2 has any issue. That did not help either. Do I need DFC 6.5 or any other software installed other than JDK 1.5 on my machine?

The Documentum Core project is hidden in the Documentum perspectives as it is read only, you cannot modify it. However, if you open the Java perspective, then you'll see it. It's a case of a WAD (Work As Designed)

OK. Here is what is the issue is. I start Composer (it is full composer 6.5 SP2 package). Select File->New->Project.... I do not see any "Documentum Project" option in the New Project wizard.

I checked with my friend who works for different company and my composer package is missing following folders:

documentum

darinstallerconfig

darinstallerlog

darinstallerworkspaces

Is it because my company has Partner Package with EMC? I am not even if that makes any difference. I will try to confirm with someone. It would be helpful to know if anyone else is having this same issue.

try installind JDK first and then extract Composer.

Hi Nidhi,

No I was not able to resolve the problem. The Composer is missing Documentum folders which I think is the issue. I downloaded the CS Developer Edition which also comes with Composer. I am using that for now and works fine.

Hi, I am having the same problem after I install Composer 6.7. What is CS Developer Edition? Anyone (prohaps from EMC) knows exactly what steps we are missing?

Can you try re-downloading the composer zip file, again? it could be that the zip file got corrupted while download, and missing some files/folders.

Hi,

Just create empty project.

When you create any type of Documentum project in composer for the first time in an empty workspace - the core project is unpacked from the install and added as a reference.
