Share template across workarea
helloworld
There are 3 workareas in one branch. for example, dept1, dept2, dept3. They can only work in owned workarea, and submit the files to same staging area.
The problem is that they have same data capture template and presentation template, how can they share the template ? What is the best pratice? Thanks !

what do you mean? if you have templates of the same category/data type they are meant to be identical in every workarea. One can do inline callouts and maintain the changes in one place, though.
Also, do you realise, that in a branch there is only ONE staging area, so it's obviously the same one for every workarea?

Reference to the dev guide pdf, the "templatedata" directory is suggested putting under the workarea directory.
So, the "templatedata" directory will be under either dept1, dept2 or dept3. I am right?
-- dept1
|-- templatedata
-- dept2
-- dept3
or put the directory in a individual workarea
-- dept1
-- dept2
-- dept3
-- templating
|-- templatedata

it's not a 'suggestion', it's the only way it will work. And templatedata directory will have to be in ALL workareas, not in 'either'....
I am strongly suggesting you to undergo a very serious training in TeamSite. You are asking FAQs that are meant to be filled in during initial training.

Thanks for your suggestion, gzevin.
I will take the courses later provide by interwoven, but in this time, I will try the product and know more about it.
According to your response, that means the each workarea will have the same templatedata (datacapture template and presentation template), this will make more duplicate data and work, right?

yes, but not that much work, as you create it once and then one could do Get Latest in every relevant workarea.

There is not a lot of duplicate data or work.
You create the DCTs and PTs in one workarea, submit them to staging, update all workareas.
The workareas contain VIRTUAL copies of the files in staging until/unless modified; plus any files being newly created within the workarea prior to being submitted to staging.
Thus - once you've versioned the DCT and done the Get Latest in all the workareas - you have 1 DCT in staging - with N virtual copies (1 per workarea)
TeamSite is not the kind of thing that one trivially "picks up" *before* training -- you should get the basic training (big picture / concepts) first -- which should generally be included in the initial purchase contract. Beyond that - spending a good deal of time with the manuals (as good or bad as they may be) - before "trying the product" also makes sense.
