Path issue

maggi

I am trying to use the component template in my tpl. The component tpl resides in the another branch (one level up).

I want to use that tpl here in the main

component tpl path = /sales_portal_ui_dev/main/sales_extranet/WORKAREA/default/templatedata/template_admin/menu_admin/data/dropdown

my $dcrname = $iw_arg{dd_dcr};
my $DCR = "/templatedata/template_admin/menu_admin/data/dropdown" . $dcrname;
my $this_dcr = iwpt_load_dcr( $DCR, 'docroot', 't' );

main tpl path = /atlstpa3/sales_portal_ui_dev/main/sales_extranet/Inc_mainWORKAREA/workarea/templatedata/sales_portal/main_section/Presentation

<iw_if expr="{iw_value name='dropdown'} ne ''">
<iw_then>
<iw_include pt='/sales_portal_ui_dev/main/sales_extranet/WORKAREA/default/templatedata/template_admin/menu_admin/data/dropdown' >
<![CDATA[
$iw_param{dd_dcr} = iwpt_dcr_value('dropdown');
]]>
</iw_include>
</iw_then>
</iw_if>

The iw_include path is failing.. any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Maggi

<iw_include pt='/sales_portal_ui_dev/main/sales_extranet/WORKAREA/default/templatedata/template_admin/menu_admin/data/dropdown' >

Are you sure about that path? Generally "..../data/dropdown" would be the name of a DCR not a PT

Besides that, have you tried putting debugging statements in your PTs?
Have you tried compiling with iwpt_compile.ipl using the '-ocode' flag to create a perl script and then running that through the Perl debugger?

Component Template (sales_extranet - sub-branch)
/iwmnt/sales_portal_ui_dev/main/sales_extranet/WORKAREA/default/templatedata/template_admin/menu_admin/presentation/default.tpl

Main Template where I am using that template (inc_main sub-branch under sales_extranet sub-branch
/iwmnt/sales_portal_ui_dev/main/sales_extranet/inc_main/WORKAREA/workarea/templatedata/sales_portal/main_section/presentation/default.tpl

I am trying to call the component template here in Main template
<iw_include pt="/iwmnt/sales_portal_ui_dev/main/sales_extranet/WORKAREA/default/templatedata/template_admin/menu_admin/presentation/default.tpl">

but it always append the main template path + component template path.
/iwmnt/sales_portal_ui_dev/main/sales_extranet/inc_main/WORKAREA/workarea / then its adding the component template path.

Any suggestion?
Thanks

Did you try setting the 'mode' attribute for the iw_include tag? (if you don't know what that is - please refer to the online documentation for iw_include within http://your-ts-server/iw/help/tst/pt)

Component Template
==================
<iw_pt encoding="UTF-8" name="menu_admin" >
<![CDATA[<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>]]>
<menu>
<iw_iterate list='dcr.menu.dropdown_menu' var="dd_list" iteration='iter' >
<iw_iterate list='dd_list.list_items' var="list_items" iteration='iter' >
<![CDATA[<iw_value name="$iw_arg{list_items.link_label}"/>]]>
<![CDATA[<iw_value name="$iw_arg{list_items.file_location}"/>]]>
</iw_iterate>
</iw_iterate>
</menu>
</iw_pt>

I am getting "Could not Process error" in the main template.

Main Template where I am usingh Component Template
===========================================

<iw_include pt='/iwmnt/sales_portal_ui_dev/main/sales_extranet/WORKAREA/default/templatedata/template_admin/menu_admin/presentation/default.tpl'
mode ='ptlocal'>
$iw_param{link_label} = iwpt_dcr_value('list_items.link_label');
$iw_param{file_location} = iwpt_dcr_value('list_items.file_location');
</iw_include>

Any Suggestions, tips will be appreciated
Maggi

cliffhanger

<![CDATA[<iw_value name="$iw_arg{list_items.link_label}"/>]]>
<![CDATA[<iw_value name="$iw_arg{list_items.file_location}"/>]]>

try:
<iw_value name= 'list_items.link_label'/>
<iw_value name='list_items.file_location'/> instead

I did tried that way also.. the component template is generating without any problem but in the main template it populates only the following code.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<menu />

Can you post your DCT and/or a sample DCR?
I'm having trouble understanding your structure - your main template seems to indicate a structure of:/list_items/link_label
/list_items/file_location but your component template seems to indicate a structure of:/menu/dropdown_menu/list_items/link_label
/menu/dropdown_menu/list_items/file_location

I am attaching the component dct/tpl and main dct/tpl

Maybe it's me - maybe it's you - but this seems to be getting a lot more confusing as we go on here.
Let me see if I've got this right:

You are absolutely correct. I was switching the iwpt_load_dcr on both templates and when I attach it here somehow I missed it. sorry about that.

Anyway I am attaching my component tpl

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<iw_pt encoding="UTF-8" name="menu_admin" >
<menu>
<iw_perl><![CDATA[
use TeamSite::Config;
$iwhome = TeamSite::Config::iwgethome();
# dcr_full_path
my $DCR = iwpt_get_dcr_name();
$DCR=~s/\.//;
my $dcrname = $iw_arg{$DCR};
my $this_dcr = iwpt_load_dcr( $DCR, 'dcrlocal', 't' );

my $menu_title = iwpt_dcr_value('dcr.menu.head.menu_title');
my $display_value = iwpt_dcr_value('this_dcr.menu.dropdown_menu.display_value');

iwpt_output("<menu_title>");
iwpt_output($menu_title);
iwpt_output("</menu_title>");

iwpt_output("<menu_display_value>");
iwpt_output($display_value);
iwpt_output("</menu_display_value>");

]]>
</iw_perl>

</menu>
</iw_pt>

This is producing the results like

<menu>
<menu_title>Months</menu_title>
<menu_display_value>Select the Month</menu_display_value>
</menu>

In the main template user select the component dcr name and based on dcr name i have to insert this piece of content into main template.

<iw_if expr="{iw_value name='access.insert_dropdown'} ne ''">
<iw_then>
<iw_include pt='/iwmnt/sales_portal_ui_dev/main/sales_extranet/WORKAREA/default/templatedata/template_admin/menu_admin/presentation/default.tpl' mode ='ptlocal' >
<![CDATA[
$iw_param{$DCR} = iwpt_dcr_value('access.insert_dropdown');
]]>
</iw_include>
</iw_then>
</iw_if>

But here its just producing like this (without values)
<menu>
<menu_title />
<menu_display_value />
</menu>

I am not sure what I am missing, if you can guide me in the right direction that would be great.

This part doesn't look right:my $DCR = iwpt_get_dcr_name();
$DCR=~s/\.//;
my $dcrname = $iw_arg{$DCR};
my $this_dcr = iwpt_load_dcr( $DCR, 'dcrlocal', 't' );You're filling $DCR with the name of the current DCR being processed, removing a dot (.) and then using that as the name of the parameter being passed in - which you're stuffing into $dcrname and then doing an iwpt_load_dcr of $DCR instead of $dcrname.
