setVisible() on an item within a replicant

Within my DCT I have a nested replicant named 'copy'. see code below

Based on a user choice i wish to make the titleimg, copytitel and pagecopy not required.

To do this on titleimg and copytitle I do the following:

IWDatacapture.getItem("/index/rightcol/titleimg").setRequired(false);
IWDatacapture.getItem("/index/rightcol/copytitle").setRequired(false);

This works fine, but when I try to use similar code for the nested replicant, I cant set requited to false. Here is the code:

Any ideas why this wont work?

Shouldn't this be var containerRef = dataCaptureItemPath + "[" + replicantId + "] / pagecopy"; instead??

Moreover, you mentioned calling setReplicantVisibility('/index/rightcol/copy', false);, but you posted the code for function setReplicantRequired( dataCaptureItemPath, required ) {

Can you post your entire script code so that we get the context where you are calling this setReplicantVisibility/setReplicantRequired?

It must have been a typo. I was scratching my head over that one, too, and then -- like the dork that I am -- did a string comparison on the two and they're the same, indeed.

Not too long ago I've seen another post with problem similar to this one. May be you could add this to your code:

IWEventRegistry.addFormHandler("onFormInit", init());, always a safe practice to ensure your form is loaded properly. Then in init() you could put the following code:

IWEventRegistry.addItemHandler( "/index/content/rightcolactive", "onItemChange", hideRightColumnInfo ); It's a good practice to register events on init(), unless you have some special reason not to do so.

This may not be relevant to your problem, but I see you're doing IWDatacapture.getItem(containerRef).setValue(required); in your setReplicantRequired( dataCaptureItemPath, required ) {, did you mean to do IWDatacapture.getItem(containerRef).setRequired(required);??

Yes. it was supposed to be setRequired(boolean).

I was playing around, and I thought that if I just inserted some value into pagecopy then it would bypass the required=true. But I was unable to set a value with this anyway.

I made your suggestion. I'm still having the same problem. These replicants are killing me. I can't setRequired, I can't setValue, arghh.
