Documentum Collaboration Services.....How?

Hello guys,

I follow the instruction of installing the DAR files for the DCS and I can see the Modules installed as well as the new Roles created, I've added dmadmin the new Role of room_creator but I'm not able to see any new menu item? I was expecting something like File->new->room ? but nothing like that?

How can create new room in webtop\ DA ? I could not find instruction about that any where!!

I think my installation was OK since I follow the deployment guide closely and it went very smooth!!

any idea? suggestions? please

Did you enter valid DCS license key? I believe this can be done on the DA landing page (click Administration node).

well, I'm trying this on a VM as part of POC that involve the DCS, so I did the DAR files installation on a VM machine that I had on my PC(I got this VM from someone and it has the DCS enabled on it) So I think there is no license issue? Can I update the liceses? Do I need to do that? How if I have to? the DA does not allow me to disable and then re enable this Service?

what other possibilities for this not to function correctly?

Like I said earlier, if you look at the DA Administration landing page, it should show you all the "extra" services that are enabled/disabled for your repository. There is should be a configure link that allow you to add license in afterwards.

that is the problem!! the DCS does not show on the DA load page as an extra service available? BUT, when I click LIcensing: "configure" link, it shows that the Documentum Collaboration Service is enabled?

this is a conflict right?

Hmm... Where are you trying File->New->Room (ie what app DA or Webtop)? Also, what version?

I did tried them both.

none of them showing the capability of creating new Room!. the whole point is to create the room in webtop and access it from Taskspace. AS DCS is part of the new core Xcp platform

I forgot to mention that , CS is 6.5sp2 as well as the clients (DA, Webtop,Taskspace) AND the DCS are all 6.5Sp2

I think there might be a hotfix for the DCS for TaskSpace. This might also fix Webtop.

The user creating the room needs to belong to the dce_room_creator role.

After having followed all the other documented/indicated steps if you are still not seeing the File -> New -> Room option in DA or Webtop then you may have to follow these steps (which are unfortunately not indicated in the DCE deploy guide) :

In the WDK layer "app.xml" file change the value for "enabled" from "false" to "true":

<collaboration-support>
             <enabled>true</enabled>
          </collaboration-support>

After setting this to true and restarting the app server, you should be able to create Rooms (File, New, Room will then appear in the menu).

NOTE: This holds good with all WDK apps - DA, Webtop etc.

For TaskSpace, you will have to do this in the "taskspace" layer "app.xml" (WDK layer "app.xml" if left at false, should theoretically be overridden by the "taskspace" layer setting). But, I have been unable to see a "Create Room" option in TaskSpace even after making these changes, so if anybody knows what else needs to be done, please add to the thread.

Creating Rooms in TaskSpace is not possible - according to the TaskSpace Users Guide. Rooms can only be viewed in TaskSpace and the membership can me modified too.
