Are you asking for suggestions to increase the upload rate?

Hi,

Yes.

Thanks

Do these images have unique attributes or can you group them together (ie they share common attribute values)? If you can group them, then look at High Volume Server (HVS). The performance of importing using HVS is significantly faster than regular Content Server.

Where do you import those images from ? a client machine ?

The thing is that there's a big lot of network traffic between the client and the server when uploading, not even talking about traffic between the content server and the RDBMS server if they're not on the same box and same with the storage area if not on the same box.

1 thing I have seen that improves performances is to put the client machine on the same network segment than the content server. Problem is that it's nto always possible.

Give Buldoser a try for loading ...its a tool from Crown partners

Depending on the current distribution of data you could also look at using a legacy filestore to directly attach the data.

That way the data is already in Documentum. You could then run a background job to convert all the data to the objects you would like to have.

If the data is still on a separate diskset or even offsite you would still have the overhead of the network

Hi Badal,

Its nice to see your thread regarding Bulk Upload.

Actually, we also have the same kind of requirement of uploading 150,000 docs into Documentum. The metadata/attributes would be provided in excel sheets.

So, it would be very greatful if you could share the code with me. If you are not happy to share the code, please let me know some pointers/sites from where I would get some reference to develop the code.

Hi Sravan,

Iam also working on the same requirement moving the documents and metadata to documentum, It would be great help, if you let me know how did you achieved it?I have written DFC which will import docs, but Iam confused about metadata?

Thanks,

Madhan

Madhan,

See the attached file, a few methods at the end are stubbed out and need to be implemented to fit in your environment, but the XLS loading that you wanted an example of is fully included and documented. As always, double check the code, make sure it does what you want it to do before running it in your environment.

Good Luck,
