Field value vadlidation

Hi Experts,

I have a custom attribute created and want user to input the value and this value should be validated in underlying database or a registered table. I want user to get an error message if the value entered by the user is not correct and should not allow that document to be created/checked in to the repository. I think this can be done with the help of the TBO.

This error message should be populated in DCO client as well as DA.

Has anyone done this before? Please let me know youe inputs.

Define value assistance on the attribute by using a query against the registered table. This way the user will only be able to select those values.
