Community xCelerator Page Addition

While the EMC xCP Solutions Team is committed to uploading new xCelerators throughout the year, we believe that others may want to host and share their own xCelerators with the xCP community. Each EMC xCelerator has gone through a quality assurance process and has standardized documentation, so every uploaded xCelerator would need to meet some similar guidelines, but we want to encourage others to share what they have in addition to what EMC will produce. Keep in mind that an xCelerator does not need to be an entire solution, such as Grants, but can be a smaller asset, such as a custom activity template or a BAM dashboard.

We are currently considering creating a new page linked from the xCelerator homepage where the community xCelerators will be shared. Due to upload limitations and to keep a uniformed look and feel to all xCelerator pages and offerings, the initial plan is to have people send an email with their idea and xCelerator content to xCPSolutions@emc.com. The Solutions Team will then review the xCelerator, update the page and then upload the content.

I am most certainly interested in creating and uploading xCelerators. What would help is a page describing the quality standards and guidelines.

I sent an email to the posted address 8 days ago and have not yet received a reply. I would like to discuss the idea I have for an xCelerator further.

I like this community driven with oversite process driven approach! Yes, we have thoughts on xCelerators from ISV's we will submit to xcpsolutions email address. Keep these coming....

I echo the sentiment wondering exactly what would be involved in a xCelerator package? I could see useful applications for scan-and-store apps, accounting processing, general business apps. The more you can xCelerate the faster you'll go!

Thanks for your responses to the Discussion (and via email) so far. We've gotten some positive feedback, including the fact that people have materials that they'd like to share. We'll definitely post the criteria to the page once it's created, but there are a few things that will likely be required. For example, documentation will be needed in order to help explain what the xCelerator is, what components/files are found within the xCelerator, and how to install and use it. Additional information, such as a screencam or business/use case, would be nice but not required. Another requirement would that it be scrubbed of any customer intellectual property or that there's an agreement in place that allows for the reuse of their IP.

Keep in mind that an xCelerator can be anything from an end-to-end solution to something that fulfills a single feature requirement. We're looking forward to getting a lot of functionality and xCP design ideas out in the community.

One last comment- email through this EDN site seems to be unreliable (at least recently), so if you've sent one or were expecting one, it may have gotten lost. I'd recommend posting through Discussions or sending email directly to xCPSolutions@emc.com.
