Generate Special characters using iwpt_compile

I am using iwpt_compile to generate xml given a tpl.
The input contains characters like È Ë è ë ï ú ù ñ á ä ę € Ü ß ü ö ¿ í ó é
but after generation of xml, these characters are getting converted to
E E e e i u u ? a a e ? U ? u o ? i o e

I want to know is there any language setting or character encoding which i need to apply so that i get the same set of characters in my output xml.

In the Presentation template (tpl) ensure that ensure that you have the line
xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" before commencement of iw_pt tag.

Also ensure that as part of the xml generated from tpl the first line has
xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"

I already have the line xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" in my tpl and am also running iwpt_compile with option -oenc UTF-8 but still the special characters which i am fetching from the database is getting converted to some other characters. I think there is some conversion taking place from unicode to ascii as all characters present in ascii are appearing correctly.

will enabling

server_locale=English_UnitedStates.UTF-8@Default;

entry in iw.cfg solve the problem?

You can try writing a function which will encode the characters you want and then generate the DCRs. U can finding the character encodings on the following website.

Hi,

If this data (characters) is not an input from the DCR, but getting retrieved from the Database then can you please verify whether you are retrieving the data with correct enconding.
