Content server migration

Hi everyone,

we need to completely transfer the content (users, groups, acls, files, folders, workflows, java methods, ....) from one content server to another.

Can someone give me a guideline of how and what needs to be done?

Any help is highly appreciated.

You can use "Copy repository to test an upgrade" chapter of CS installation guide to do this.

Does the target CS has existing docbases? If yes, make sure that you recreate the aek.key for all the Docbases in the target content server.

Were you able to copy the content (users, groups, acls, files, folders, workflows, java methods, ....) from one content server to another? I need to transfer everything from old CS with Solaris OS to new CS with Linux.

What is the best way to accomplish this?

Do a clone of the DocBase that is the easiest way to achieve this.

Hi Rijo,

I did follow the "Copy repository to test an upgrade" from the Content Server installation guide.

Everything seems to function correctly except that I get the following error message when I try to access the Inbox, worklow reporting etc...

[DM_VEL_INSTANTIATION_ERROR]error: "Cannot instantiate Java class"

The target content server machine was a clean machine with brand new WInServer 2008, MS SQL Server 2005 and Content Server 6.5 SP2 installation

The dfc.properties in C:\Documentum\config and dfc.properties in TOMCAT_HOME\webapps\webtop\WEB-INF\classes are the same

and the DFC Runtime version Webtop is using is 6.5

Any ideas?
