get rid of cgi-task comment

Is it possible to get rid of the task comment for the metadata capture task? I have a workflow where the metadata capture comes up immediately after a user submits a file.

So basically... they submit a file, enter the job decription, then the metadata screen starts when they click next, then after they enter the metadata they get the comments screen for the metadata task.

What they want is for it to not show up after.

Is this possible?

Are you talking about CCStd wizard interface? CCStd without the set metadata Wizard step? or CCPro?

Most of my experiece is with the latter, and assuming your cgitask script does its callback correctly, you should not find yourself prompted for a transition comment or description or anything (unless you design it to do so).

I'm using CCPRo, and have disabled the CCStd wizards so that both pro and standard function the same. I've also placed the cgi-task in the workflow.
I'm just calling the metadata_capture_ui in the cgi task. I did not apply any transition tasks to the url, so it's most likely that. I will have to play with it.

What I have is: my $metadata_capture_ui = "iwmetadata.cgi" (set earlier in the wft)
Then the cgi task is a start task that starts on a submit.

When you submit a file/s it starts the metadata capture task.. the url that is passed is: http://teamsite.fema.net/iw-cc/tag

From there I have save/save and close/cancel as options.

If I pick save and close I get to http://teamsite.fema.net/iw-cc/command/iw.ccpro.tag which is labled as Add Comments for Task ... the options on that are simply to pick OK.

The workflow does then transition properly to the next task, but if I can get rid of that extra comment... or a comment on the metadatacapture task the users will like it better.

iwmetadata.cgi is a perl script - so you might be able to throw some debugging into it to assist you here.
Taking a quick look, it appears to be written to handle both old-style and new-style TS CGI form variables - so that's not the issue, what it does is turns a bunch of that information into hidden form variables and then /iw-cc/tag - which I'm not sure what actual program that is.
Looking a bit closer - if iwmetadata.cgi finds either a taskID or task_id form parameter in the original form data, it will set a hidden parameter for /iw-cc/tag called cgi_transition to "true" - presumably this is something which /iw-cc/tag is *supposed* to notice and then perform a callback on - if it does, you should never see an explicit comment window for your cgitask.

I'm not sure what else to tell you - you'll probably have to do a bit more digging around to figure out what's happening and why and how to resolve it.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to file this as an internal feature request from my group. I have several things they want that will take different levels of effort to do. I had looked into it, and did not see a simple way to get rid of it. I just wanted to make sure I was not missing anything.

I just wanted to inquire about this issue again to see if there was ever any resolution to it since this posting was a while ago.
We are using TS6.5 SP2 on Solaris 8 and we are running into a similar issue...

Yep. We wrote a Java wrapper for this task using CSSDK that overrides the default behavior of the metadata capture url to remove this annoyance. I have another thread out here with similar problems.
