default Document sort

Hi,

We've implemented 6.5 , Webtop, BPM.

We have a defined folder structure under the cabinet node, about 5 layers deep at the deepest point.

We use Documentum to manage techn. drawings we send to our customers.

The Question:

     The folder structure below the cabinet must remain in its established sort order, by folder number.  We use nn.nn.nn  etc to order the folders on the left panel:

     01

          01.01

               01.01.01

     02

          02.01

               02.01.01

                    02.01.01.01

          02.02          ...etc

Is it possible to maintain this default sort sequence on the left panel, and for any subfolder displayed in the right panel, while the document content of the selected folder is displayed in the right panel in sort order of creation date ("Created"), most recently created displayed first?

We handle a lot of docs, and there may be hundreds of docs in any given folder.  It's advantageous for our processes to have the most recently created docs displayed at the top of the folder view panel on right.  We understand that the whole repository, folders + docs can be set to sort by create date, but we really need to folders to maintain their defined order.   It's a productivity drag to have our doc coordinators constantly resorting by create date.

And ideas are appreciated.

Sorting is hard coded to Name. You would need to extend the webtop objectlist compoent. Define a new Java class, and create a new version of the DocbaseQueryService file with your sort ordering. The sources of the current classes are available via WDK.
