Hi,
Iam running a deployment which deploys all files/directories as user cmsadmin
and group webgroup. A problem occurs when files in directories with the following
permissions are attempted to be deployed:

drw--w---- 2 cmsadmin webgroup 3864 Jul 3 2003 backup
drw--w---- 2 cmsadmin webgroup 3864 Jul 4 2003 backup2
drw--w---- 2 cmsadmin webgroup 3864 Jul 6 2003 backup3
drw--w---- 2 cmsadmin webgroup 3864 Jul 27 2003 backup4

which would be understandable if OD was running as cmsadmin, but its running as
root :

"A problem occurs" - can you describe / define the "problem" in a bit more detail?

The problem is most likely the protections on those directories - which is bad (620) - there's no execute permissions - which means that (in normal circumstances) the contents of the directory may be listed (by someone with access) but you are unable to enter the directory:

/tmp > mkdir test
/tmp > touch test/a
/tmp > chmod 620 test
/tmp > ls -ld test
drw--w----   3 ghoti  wheel  102 Feb 26 18:19 test/
/tmp > ls test
test:
a  
/tmp > cd test
tcsh: test: Permission denied.
/tmp > touch test/b
touch: test/b: Permission denied

(works
the same in bash as tcsh here - this is not a shell issue)

My guess is - if you fix the protections on the directory to something like 720 - or more likely 750 - your deployment problems will go away.

Yes the problem is the permission on the directories, the execute bits
on the directory is missing, i realize this. The part which i don't understand
is if OD is running as root, than why does it have problems creating files
within this directory ?

Yes, fixing the permissions on the directories will make the problems go away,
only, i want to leave these weired permissions in place ...

Well - at this point I think your only recourse is to take this up with IWOV Support.

Which user is running the deployment cmsadmin or root. If you are using an externaltask that is owned by cmsadmin then the deployment command is running with the same user permission.

Well, Iam running iwodstart as root from the command line,
and OD on the receiver looks like running as root also :
