Need to customize import/new document component

Hi all,

I have a requirement which goes like this.

For Type A, I have 4 attributes

attr1 - textbox, user entry field, mandatory
attr2 - read-only
attr3 - read -only
attr4.- read-only

While I import/create a new document of type Type A, when i enter the value for attr1 in its textbox, the other attributes need to get populated automatically(by firing a query on a registered table).

I am not sure if it could be done through Documentum Composer. IF it involves WDK customization, please let me know on how to do it and which event will get fired on entering the value in textbox for attr1.

Hello Sivaraj,

Yes you can do the below mentioned customization using WDK.

At first create a new JSP page for your custom attributes after extend your import Component. You can call an method from the JSP which you can write down in either JSP or class file, you can call the On Render method so that it refreshes after entering the value . As an alternative you can have an Refresh button near your text attribute and after entering the Text field if the user clicks on the Refresh button all the secondary attributes will be populated. Make sure you register the table in Documentum and give proper rights. Guess so it helps.

Yes, this can be done for the New Document Component also.

The attribute population could be done via a TBO. That way it applies regardless of how the document is created. Also no Webtop customisation is required. The disadvantage, the attributes will not be populated until the document is saved.... which means the users can not see the values
