Number of users in the role files

Is there a limitation on the number of users in role file? If so, what is the maximum number of users that can be added?

I dont think there is a limit on number of users in the role file. The number of users in each role is dependent on the license of TeamSite.

Hi,

There is no limit on the number of users in a role file.

They depend on the TeamSite license you have purchased.
Master, Administrator, Editor Role users are considered as Power users, and then there are Authors. When you buy TeamSite you would have bought the license for x number of power users and y number of Content Creators (Authors).

Any idea how to find out the number of power users and number of Content Creators allowed for the Teamsite license we have..

How? Quite simply - your company purchases TeamSite and in the process purchases a set number of licenses for the various roles (unfortunately the semantics of how this works has changed from time-to-time - so the only sure way to know is to find the sales agreement) TeamSite will let you put any number of entries into the uid file and will work just fine. Interwoven may audit your company and if they find that you have more users listed than what you are licensed for - your company gets into legal complications by not being compliant with their licensing arrangement.

In 6.7 it will probably get even stranger - since there will no-longer be a limit to the 4 roles - you'll be able to have all sorts of roles for which their properties are configured -- not sure how they're going to sell those...

Will there be any error (like TS crash)

OR performance problem with the teamsite..

OR Absolutely no change in the performance

To avoid these problem, new license should be purchased or same license can be reused with some modifications.

Hi,

As fish has clearly stated above, You can go on put any number of users in a particular uid file exceeding the license you have purchased and the TeamSite will just work fine. There will not be any performance related issues. Only issue you will get into is the Legal problems with Interwoven !!!

If you want to add more users just need to buy the lincese for the same. It is basically your Client reaching an agreement with Interwoven Sales people.

Note: This does not have any relation with License Key used in iw.cfg and you will still continue to use the same License key.
