Content Migration Software for free!

Hello @all,

there is a new migration tool available and it's for free! This tool called "migration-center" and the free version supports migrations from file shares to EMC Documentum. You can migrate up to 5.000 documents from your file share to your live Documentum repository. The functional capabilities of the free product are limited for file share migrations but you can use this tool for productive migrations.
With this tool you can analyse the documents, enrich the metadate and import these documents together with the new metadata to DCTM.

Quick question: Does it support cutomization, by that, I mean, applying a post-process to the batch or on a per document basis, once imported ? Is it suopported in the free version, the Pro version?

Hi Francois,

yes - the migration-center supports customization. (This was the goal from the beginning.)

Due to it's "open connectivity architecture" it is possible to customize the adapters and implement e.g. such post-processes. You can get an overview to the architecture on this site: http://www.migration-center.de/Open-Connectivity-Architecture.678.0.html. You can also find information about most adapters and their functionalities which have been already implemented by clicking on "More information...".

In the past we or partners have adapted the adapter-parts (Scanner, Importer) many times for many customers. In some projects there is a need to collect also metadata from a database or other (re)sources. So we added such functions to the Filesystem-Scanner for this. In other scenarios we added functions to an importer, e.g. to attach workflows or lifecycles. Both is possible: To add logic after each imported document or after the whole batch.

All in all the migration-center is highly flexible and customizations can be done with ease in a short timeframe.

Customizations are only supported in the full version of migration-center.
