Hi ,

We are in the process of migrating our code from dfc 5.3 to dfc 6.5.

As per dfc 5.3 when i set any attribute with large size ,system used to truncate it. where as in dfc 6.5 it throwing an exception.

is dfc 6.5 providing any new API to set the attributes .I refered the documentation but i didn't find any clues .

Here is the code snippet :

IDfSysObject sysObject = (IDfSysObject) dfSession.getObject(new DfId(objectID));

sysObject.setString(attribute, values);

I getting following exception while I am setting attribute to sysobject using SetStringMethod();

Exception:-

DfAttributeValueException:: THREAD: http-8080-1; MSG: [DFC_OBJECT_BADATTRVALUE] value is too big for attribute 'reporting_attribute'. Value UTF-8 length is 22. Maximum length is 15.; ERRORCODE: ff; NEXT: null

      at com.documentum.fc.client.impl.typeddata.AbstractTypedData.validateAndConvertIfNecessary(AbstractTypedData.java:327)

DFC 6.5 does not provide any new API to set attributes. You can set property"dfc.compatibility.truncate_long_values=true" (in dfc.properties), if you want DFC to discard any extra data that does not fit in the target field. But it is not recommended.
