Webtop UI layer to component XML

Hi,

I am new to webtop framework customization for my project.

I would like to know that Is there way to map corresponding Component XML from Webtop UI view/action.?

Currently I am navigating through webtop custom folder component xml, config folder xml, webcomponent xml to identify where exactly the implementation and configuration present.

As a developer, it is taking time to analyze entire project functionality.

Or is there a way to create Class diagram/UML diagram for entire webtop framework project for better understanding of project.?

Please advise me if any other best approaches available for understanding existing webtop customization.

Hi,

The best way to understand customizations is to have some good documentation next to them but I presume you don't have it.

For finding which component you're dealing with, you may use of the following:

I don't think there's a real set of UML class diagrams for WDK. You may have a look at some reverse engineering tools like umlgraph (http://www.umlgraph.org/) or commercial tools but I think most of them require java sources for building class diagrams. But I think decompiling WDK classes could make the trick, as, as far as I know, WDK doesn't use AOP.

It requires a lot of time and effort to reverse engineer wdk. I suggest to go through WDK Tutorial and WDK development guide for understanding the configurations and customizations. All of the customizations and configuration we need in real time world are explained in detailed in the above guides.
