Tool for Documentum migration/replica

Hi everyone,

here is my question:

I have a repository and content server installed on a machine with a customized WDK appliaction and relative DA. Now, I need to backup and move everything on a different machine in order to have a perfect replica of the original environment.

Is there a tool/product to achieve this? Is NetWorker suitable?

Thank you so much... the solutions proposed are great. I was wondering if there was a kind of "one shot" solution to clone/migrate not just the content but applications (customized webtop + DA) as well.

The customized webtop has been done with the the DAB despite on Documentum version 6.0.

I was trying to import the webtop with the Composer (since I will have to migrate to the 6.5) and trying to "transform" the DocApp into a Composer project but unsuccesfully 'till now... I did took over a system which has lots of faults and seems almost impossible to clone the actual production environment in order to make a development environment for my team... I am getting confused. In the end I do not care that much about the documents present in the production environment as much as I do care about all the system structure, since the most of the customization the customer requires are made for the WDK.

We did try several solution to clone all the environment, but not with much of a success... Any other advice?

The clone procedure described in that document should work for the CS migration, to migrate WDK based applications; you have to just move the webapp to the new server.

I was trying to import the webtop with the Composer....

I am not sure what you meant by this?

You don’t necessarily have to convert to DAR files. You can use application builder for 6.5. You can download it form the Download center. The instruction to convert the DocApps to DAR file is listed in the Composer user guide.

Sorry for the late reply... I've been away for a while, anyway, thank you for your reply.

I understand the point about the DocApp and the way i am using to "import the customized webtop" is the one mentioned in the exposed in the Composer user guide.

The problem is that even without the filesystem it seems I cannot replicate the production environment, I cannot understand why... I have a development environment where I can easily work... but it is not an exact replica (does not matter for the filesystem). The production system has not been indeed done using the EMC best practices, starting from the global registry.

Are there any paths, user names, passwords restriction in order to clone the environment? (e.g. same installer owner user name etc..) Anyway I did try to replicate anything even the paths, but it seems there are still problems... any idea?
