Use CSS to modify appearance of replicants

Since it's difficult to see the hierarchial structure of nested replicants, I want to improve the appearance by changeing the background color of parents to red and the background color of its immediate children to green.

For the parents I write:

/* determines the look and feel for the replicant instance box */
.iw-formspub-replicant-instance
{
background-color: #red;
}

The immediate children is where I'm having trouble. I think that the CSS code would be the following:

.iw-formspub-replicant-instance > .iw-formspub-replicant-instance
{
background-color: #green;
}

However, it doesn't seem to work. Any thoughts?

Provided you've not got any Visual Format fields on the page you can view the DCR using the Firefox web browser/DOM Inspector.

This will give you a (darn large!) navigable tree of all the HTML, etc that makes up the DCR edit window.

The source of the DCT is mostly javascript code. I didn't see any html that define the replicants. I didn't go through the js code but I guess the js code generates the replicants somehow.

If I use the css in my first post, the parent and child replicants are displayed in red. Therefore, either my css child selector is incorrect or the html has no hierarchial structure.

As far as I know, what you're trying it not possible. It's all replicants or none, depth does not matter.

Not so much a TeamSite question but a css one. If replicants behave like divs or spans the problem lies on how you are calling the nested replicant.

The problem is to reference the nested replicant use the following;

.iw-formspub-replicant-instance . iw-formspub-replicant-instance {
background-color: green;
}

notice that I didn't include the > sign. I tested this quickly in ie 6 and it works fine. See the attached code.

Start looking here: iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center/formspub/styles
If you decide to modify it, do not change files in this Folder directly, see Customization Guide first
