Create Directory

Hi there,

I want to create a new directory and want to copy all the files/sub-dir in a particular directory to the newly created directory within Teamsite on the same hierarchy level. The perl script written to create and copy files compiled and executes well but the problem is the newly created directories and files are not visible on Teamsite.

It was needed bcoz is a monthly task to be done. Also it has to be done in same branch and workarea, so no need to worry about changing of branches, sub-branches and workareas. If any one has dealt with this type of situation.. then please help.

First - when posting questions like this - please try to remember to include pertinent environment information - such as:

Version(s) of product(s) - including SP level
Platform(s) on which each product is installed

Second I think your definition of "executes well" and the apparent lack of results tend to disagree with one another. If you have the ability to post the code, we might take a look at it and critique / visually-debug it a bit for you - but it's better that you do your own debugging first. For instance:

Have you made sure the script correctly checks the return status from all commands used to create the directories?
Have you run the script with iwperl -d (or iwperl -dtkdb) from the command line and walked through what it is doing?
Have you made sure that the user running the command / owning the process - has permissions within the TeamSite branch they are attempting to create directories within?

In short, I think you need to do a bit more investigation yourself and then, if you haven't resolved the problem, post again with more details - including what you did / what you saw / etc.

Apologies for the same...

I am working on Version 6.1 with Service Pack 2 on Solaris 5.8.

As far as debugging is concerened ... i have done that. its giving me all correct codes.

I am using this command to copy

my $successCode = `IW_HOME/bin/iwupdate -x $pathfromCopy $pathtoCopy`;

Uhm - IW_HOME is not a legitimate string / variable - so if that's a literal snippet of your code - it's not going to work. It should be something like:...
use TeamSite::Config;
my $iwhome = TeamSite::Config::iwgethome();
...
my $successCode = `$iwhome/bin/iwupdate -x $pathfromCopy $pathtoCopy`;

Secondly - unless you show us exactly what $pathfromCopy and $pathtoCopy evaluate to when that command was actually run - there are any number of things that could be wrong with their values and/or their usage.

I suggest changing the code to look like:...
my $cpcmd = qq($iwhome/bin/iwupdate -x "$pathfromCopy" "$pathtoCopy");
warn("CPCMD: ($cpcmd)\n");
my $output = qx($cpcmd 2>&1);
my $ successCode = $?;
warn("OUTPUT: ($output)\n");
warn("CODE: ($successCode)\n");
... and then, if that doesn't clear up the problem for you - post the output that was generated (I'm assuming this script is being run by hand from the command line - if not, you will need to change those warn() statements to something that logs the information to a file)
