6.5 high volume server licensing

Do you need a high volume server license to just use some DFC 6.5 features? Batching is one of the new features in DFC 6.5. It also appeared in several marketing/white papers as one of the features for high volume server. I assume I can just use DFC 6.5 batch API with a 6.5 content server without the need of having a license for High Volume Server.

No you cannot use without license. DFC is just an API. Finally it should connect to Documentum where you should have license.

Did you say this based on real experience in production or were you just guessing? I can use the concerned portion of the DFC 6.5 API with a 6.5 server without the license for high volume. The application works perfectly fine. It seems to me at least batching is a built in feature for 6.5 content server, not necessarily a high volume server feature.
