Moving database to different host

Hi All,

We are using Documentum 6.5 SP1 running on AIX 6.1 and we use Oracle 11g as underlying database. Right now, we have Documentum content server and database running on same host.

We have some memory issues and some times java processes are going out of memory espacially java method server and webcache. We analyzed memory usage, more than 60% of system memory used by oracle. Our plan is to have dedicated server for oracle.

My question to you all is did any of you move database instance from content server host to different host? Any planning/steps/configuration changes needs to done in Documentum during this migration?

I really appreciate if you can share some information if you had any similar experience before.

This is not a Documentum issue as much as database issue. Your DBAs should be able to export/import database from one host to another. Once on the database is on the new host, you just need to change the tnsnames.ora on the Documentum server to point to the new host.

Thanks Johnny for the response. DBA will be taking care of migrating oracle instance to new host. I just want to make sure nothing needs to be changed in Documentum side.

The only other place you might need to change is the server.ini. There are some database connection parameters in that file as well.
